A SMALL CHUNK OF SIMON ADVICE --
Rigid Belief Systems are responsible for closed minds and stubborn resistance to change. A practical way to keep your mind open to ideas and differing perspectives is by eliminating the word "belief" from your everyday language; substitute," I think..." "It's my opinion that... "I'd like to suggest..." etc. "I believe..." is best left for the Sabbath as we humans need to believe in things we cannot prove. In business, ideas are best expressed logically - conclusions must be drawn from provable hard facts, figures and experience NOT unprovable beliefs! AND HERE ARE SOME ONE-LINERS YOU MIGHT FIND A WAY TO USE. When two people in business always agree, one of them is redundant. "Notice the difference between what happens when a person says to him/herself, 'I have failed three times,' and what happens when he/she says, 'I am a failure.'" S.I.Hayakawa (1906-1992) You can either live your dreams or live your fears. The most important things in life - aren't things. When all else fails - lower your standards. "America is one of the few places where the failure to promote oneself is widely regarded as arrogance." Gary Trudeau, cartoonist "Whenever two people meet a miracle is possible."
