Somehow winners don't always feel like winners. So where can that wonderful feeling come from? I'd like to suggest that a significant part of that feeling comes from helping others to become winners.
A SMALL BIT OF SIMON ADVICE -- These days there is so much emphasis - too much emphasis - on presentation style, podium presence, and image that we are forgetting how important the logical content is. Public speaking is not so much about keeping a mouth going as it is about showing the quality of a brain. I think the balance is shifting too far to the image side. Based on what I see in the corporate and political worlds, I am kept slightly worried about what I call the articulate incompetents. So I advise that when evaluating a speech or presentation, place the highest value on clear and logical thinking. I prefer to show people how to package their ideas - not to package people. Consider the difference. AND HERE ARE SOME ONE-LINERS YOU MIGHT FIND A WAY TO USE THIS MONTH. "Sometimes you gotta slow down to get in the fast lane." S. M. Bermont "To be agreeable while disagreeing --that's an art." Malcolm Forbes "Don't manage symptoms; hunt for the problem." Arynne Simon "Consider the comforting effects of confusion." Anonymous "I have had dreams and I have had nightmares. I overcame my nightmares because of my dreams." Dr. Jonas Salk Copyright ©1998-2010 by Simon Skill Systems. All rights reserved.
